Tracy Sierra’s Nightwatching is the fan-selected pick of Jimmy Fallon’s book club.
Sierra’s debut novel, published in February by Pamela Dorman/Viking, follows a mother who rushes her children into a secret room in her house after an intruder arrives. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus praised the book as “fiercely feminist and viscerally terrifying.”
The novel competed with 15 other books in an NCAA basketball–style tournament, with fans voting online to select the title that would be featured on the Tonight Show host’s book club.
Fallon announced the selection on the show, saying, “It came down to these two books here, [Kristen Perrin’s] How To Solve Your Own Murder and Nightwatching.…We’re all going to read this book together. I’ll be on social media, checking in, letting you know where I am at in this book.”
Perrin congratulated Sierra on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing, “It was AMAZING having my book make it to the final two in the #FallonBookClub, I’m so grateful and honored by the support I received throughout, so thank you to everyone voting! And so many congrats to @tsierraauthor, I’ve got my copy of Nightwatching and can’t wait to read it!”
Sierra also posted about her book’s selection on X, writing, “I’m so grateful to everyone who chose Nightwatching as The Tonight Show #FallonBookClub pick out of a field of such incredible books! I’m sure this will sink in eventually…”
