Jimmy Fallon is bringing back his Tonight Show book club, and he’s enlisting the help of viewers to select a winner from a list of 16 titles.
Fallon announced the return of the club on the Tonight Show on Monday. “If you know me, you know I’m always looking for a good book to read,” he said. “Normally, the way this works is we pick a handful of books and we vote to see who the winner is, and that’s the book we read together. But this time we’re changing it up.”
He then revealed that 16 books would compete in a March Madness–style elimination bracket, with the eventual winning title named the “Fallon Book Club Spring Read.”
“We have all different genres,” he said. “Mystery, young adult novels, we have debut authors, New York Times bestselling authors. It’s a great mix of books.”
The field includes titles like Percival Everett’s James, Tommy Orange’s Wandering Stars, Tracy Sierra’s Nightwatching, Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé’s Where Sleeping Girls Lie, Sloane Crosley’s Grief Is for People, and Tana French’s The Hunter. Voting is open for three days on the book club’s website.
Previous books selected for Fallon’s book club include Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone; Mary Beth Keane’s Ask Again, Yes; and Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
